Lesson Introduction
Guided Instruction. If a single man could change the course of an grand republic than a group of people can do anything they put their mind to. For this assignment you will be deciding up into groups of 3 to 4 students and completing a power point project. This project will be an opportunity to display your skill in organizing, analyzing and exhibiting information and sources about a specific topic in a clear and concise format.
Content Delivery
Content for the assignment will be delivered primarily by a rubric for the project. This rubric and the assignment instructions attached to it will fill the students in on the exact nature of the teacher's expectations for the class and each student on a personal level. While this is a group assignment the students must know that it is not an excuse for each group to rely heavily on one or two students while the others perform in a less than satisfactory matter to promote the projects completion.
This project will serve to prepare the students to not only apply their skills and knowledge for completing an assignment based on the Roman era but invite them to participate in a cooperative project; an activity that they will become more an more familiar with as they progress into high school or junior high.

Student Engagement
The first day of the assignment after the students are divided into groups they will spend the remainder of their class outlining their project with a proposal. This will promote their work by taking the first concentrated step towards completing their project.
Proposal Guidelines - Each group must complete a written proposal of their project that details the theme/topic that they have chosen and how they will go about creating a clear and well structured power point presentation. The students must make sure to write down one of their sources for the project proposal for it to be accepted.
Powerpoint Presentation Guidelines - Each group will be responsible for a 7 slide powerpoint presentation. The presentations will be 8 slides including the title and work cited page. Each slide must be well structured and have at least one supporting image for the items included on the slide. These images can be anything from a great painting based on the time period or a stick figure drawings found online or done by your classmates but they must be supporting of the assignment.

The students will be putting everything they have learned into a cohesive and well thought out project that will prove not only their knowledge of the content but their skill in executing a well structured power point presentation.
LEsson Closure
For the first day of the assignment the Teacher will assign any proposals that haven't been completed as homework. When students arrive the next day they will promptly turn in their proposals so that the teacher can ensure that each student group has the basis of a strong presentation to go on. These will be the two main times where the presentation will be worked on in class as the assignment is built to work as an outside of school project with the main portion of in class time being taken for review of the unit and preparation for the exam.
